Overlooking the lake and suspended in the tree canopy, this home has stunning vistas from every room. The abundance of natural light provided an opportunity to explore a dark and moody material palette in contrast to the exterior views beyond, resulting in a balanced and serene home immersed in nature. The homeowners desired a space that evokes richness and tranquility, as well as a crisp, clean aesthetic imbued with their personalities.
The consultant team created intimate pauses and moments of delight by integrating a sense of compression and release as one moves through the space. Exposed cross bracing throughout the house celebrates the structure and adds a visual lightness to the interior. A custom-fit tempered glass facade was designed for the office to add further transparency between spaces.
The homeowners value spaces that accommodate multiple functions, such as the office, which has a stall bar so they can take breaks from work to exercise. The rec room in the bunkie was designed to support leisure time, exercise, and stretching. It is equipped with comfortable furniture, a tv with a gaming system, free weights, and a ballet bar. It is a peaceful space that opens up to the lower patio and the lake beyond.
The kitchen, with its oversized picture window overlooking the lake, serves as the primary gathering area in the home. Seamlessly integrated appliances give the kitchen an uncluttered aesthetic. A continuous quartz backsplash reinforces a sense of continuity and simplicity. Open shelving offers the flexibility to create and change out vignettes with the seasons. A wet bar near the dining room was incorporated for entertaining and to keep coffee, tea, and drinks separate from the busy kitchen sink area.
The primary bedroom, ensuite and dressing room sequence was thoughtfully planned to create an atmosphere of complete retreat. The ensuite showcases a steam shower clad with floor-to-ceiling porcelain slab for grout-free surfaces that are easy to maintain. The steam shower bench incorporates a subtle lighting detail, creating a warm and relaxing ambiance in the shower. A stepped vanity sets the makeup area apart from the basins. A combination of open and closed storage in the dressing room offers an opportunity to display special pieces. Custom nightstands in the bedroom make full use of the space and are lit up at night with suspended pendants, keeping the stands’ surfaces uncluttered.
Every detail in this home has been finely-tuned and carefully executed to ensure this home will endure over time.
